x86_64 compile just fine
i686 has well known bugs in the Makefile, bug was corrected in 2013, but doesn't work with the current version of the official sources.
The main problem is that i386 is tested instead of i686 as far I know. I needed it on any x86 computer I have this day under the hand for Chromebook ARM systÃem maintennance.
